Rebirth of the Evil Angel

Rebirth of the Evil Angel is a fantasy and magic web novel by the author Liulei de Yu wyj, first published on Qidian in 2011. It runs to about 1.78 million characters and 588 chapters and was completed in June 2012. The protagonist, Wang Biao, was a notorious major drug lord in life, but after death he unexpectedly is reborn as a low-ranking angel in the Realm of Light. According to the novel's setting, low-ranking angels have no gender, and to restore his male body Wang Biao must desperately climb the angel hierarchy: two-winged soldier angel, four-winged guard angel, six-winged seraph, eight-winged power angel, ten-winged archangel, and twelve-winged great archangel, each level meaning greater power and higher status in the divine realm. To that end he makes deals with various factions, fights for resources, and even develops the "devouring" sixth rule, using the consumption of opponents' power to break through beyond his rank. The story unfolds layer by layer with the expansion of the Church of Light, the struggles among the chief gods of the divine realm, and the confrontation with the Dark Divine Realm. Wang Biao starts as a lowly soldier angel assigned to carry out a mission on the Xuanluo plane, fights his way up by beating the Holy Son, intervening in an empire's struggle for the throne, and standing up to higher gods, and ultimately devours the Dark God King's divinity to become the sovereign and opens a spatial passage back to Earth. The whole book moves at a brisk pace, with "face-slapping and leveling up" as its main line, along with settings such as church politics, planar war, and a hierarchy of divine ranks.
