Shrouding the Heavens V1.0

Shrouding the Heavens is a long xianxia novel by the web writer Chen Dong, serialized on Qidian from October 2010 to May 2013, totaling more than six million Chinese characters. The story opens in the cold, dark depths of the universe: a space probe sends back a stunning image—nine enormous dragon corpses dragging an ancient bronze coffin slowly across the sea of stars, the "nine dragons bearing a coffin." The protagonist, Ye Fan, reunites with former college classmates on Mount Tai and is carried off Earth by this mysterious force, landing in a star domain called Beidou, where he learns he possesses the rare Ancient Sacred Body. He then passes through forbidden zones, studies source arts, and is caught in the feuds of holy lands and ancient families and battles with primeval creatures, breaking through realms again and again through sheer daring and endless strokes of fortune, growing from a man coveted for what he carries into a disruptor who shakes the world. The novel fuses ancient mythological geography—the Mount Tai feng and shan sacrifices, the Kunlun Jade Pool, the ancient star Yinghuo—with a new cultivation system to build a layered world; on his path to immortality and proving the great Dao, the protagonist is also shadowed by the desolation of early loss of family and the scattering of old friends. The title "Shrouding the Heavens" implies overturning the old order and remaking heaven and earth. This is a web e-book compilation, commonly circulated under version labels such as "V1.0."
