Summary
Batman: Dark Victory is a 13-issue limited series (1999–2000) by writer Jeph Loeb and artist Tim Sale, following Batman: The Long Halloween and regarded as its sequel. Set in Gotham early in Batman's career, the story follows a serial killer known as the Hangman who claims the lives of police officers one after another, leaving a children's-game clue beside each body as the only lead. Trust between Commissioner Gordon and Batman fractures, former ally Harvey Dent has fallen into Two-Face, and Two-Face, the Joker, the Riddler, Catwoman and a host of other villains all become suspects. Batman must seek the truth in the most unexpected place while an orphan boy enters his life—a bond that ultimately leads to the birth of Batman and Robin. This volume is the 13th installment of the series, the concluding part of the 13-issue story; a Chinese-language collected edition was published by World Publishing Corporation in 2024.
Editor's review
