Strange Fate

Strange Fate is a tomb-raiding adventure novel by the web author "The Limit of Thought" (pen name Qiye Y). It began serialization on 17K in 2015 and concluded in June 2018, totaling 541 chapters and about 1.7 million Chinese characters. The protagonist possesses a physique far beyond ordinary men and carries a short blade of unknown origin. To uncover a secret hidden for a thousand years in the Qiwu Mountains, he sets out on a journey full of strange occurrences: tomb traps, monstrous beasts of the mountains and forests, and crises of the undead appear one after another, companions and rivals each have their own agendas, and behind the mountain's mystery lies a deliberately buried past. As the journey extends from the Qiwu Mountain enigma to adventures involving the wondrous gate divine lamp and the eerie mirror body, mysterious figures and bizarre events follow one upon another. Time and again the protagonist is forced to make choices amid life-and-death puzzles, gradually closing in on the core of that earth-shaking secret and slowly uncovering the mystery of his own origins. The work blends suspense and deduction, Daoist mysticism, occult culture, and survival adventure; the pace is tight and the atmosphere eerie without relying on gore or horror. Beyond the main line, it also depicts trust and emotional bonds among companions. The story closes with a meaningful line for the reader: the end of everything is, in fact, the beginning. This is a web-serialized work; no officially published single-volume edition has been identified.
