Summary

The Land of Flowers II is the concluding volume of Jiang Huimin's two-part "Land of Flowers" series, continuing the otherworldly adventures of Emily, an ordinary high school girl from the first book. Suo, the domineering ruler of the Land of Flowers, insists on marrying Mi'er, but Mi'er has always had eyes only for the wandering swordsman Qi and is utterly unwilling to accept this so-called fated arrangement. Although Qi reappears before her, his body and temperament have been ravaged and controlled by a powerful curse, to the point that he cannot even protect the one he loves. To break the curse and avert the crisis of the Land of Flowers' destruction, all the burden falls on Mi'er, whom everyone reveres as the "Goddess of Heaven." Guided by a dream, Emily and her companions travel to the ruined Land of Earth in search of the power that can unseal the "Seed of Heaven"; and when the Seed of Heaven meets the Seed of Earth, the five great nations are thrown into peril. As the journey unfolds, the group discovers that behind the curse lies a long-plotted, earth-shattering conspiracy. The true identity of the mysterious figure Meng is revealed, along with the heavy past he carries. Compared with the gorgeously fairy-tale tone of the first volume, this book intensifies its portrayal of emotional conflict, adding tear-jerking choices between love and hate and themes of sacrifice and redemption, writing out the hopeless devotion and courage of youth within a fantastical invented world.
