Robin #176

Summary
Robin #176 (published August 6, 2008) is a tie-in issue to the Batman: R.I.P. event, titled "Gathered Pieces," written by Fabian Nicieza, with pencils by Joe Bennett, inks by Jack Jadson, and colors by Guy Major. The story follows directly from Robin #175. Batman has disappeared, and street rumors say he has "gone mad." Tim Drake (the third Robin) and Spoiler (Stephanie Brown) join forces to investigate the truth in Gotham City: they raid the Golden Dragon gang, visit private detective Jason Bard, ask Officer Harper of the GCPD about the whereabouts of Batman's "black book" file, and confront the Black Glove's "Swagman" head-on. The trail ultimately leads to Penguin's Iceberg Lounge, and a Batman photograph that Stephanie deleted reveals that she was asked by Bruce to deliberately steer Tim off course. The issue ends with Tim flying alone into the night: he realizes that behind his new red-and-black costume and the mask borrowed from Nightwing, he has long been a gradually independent self—"Gotham may not always have a Batman, but it will always have a Robin." The issue is followed by Batman #679.
Editor's review

FAQ
