The Summit

The Summit is the third installment in mainland new wuxia writer Shi Weihan's "Ming General Series" and the longest novel in the series, as well as the one with the most somber style and grandest scope. The story opens in the towering capital: Prince Tai, at enormous expense, arranges a long-planned assassination targeting the Tibetan envoy Gong Dichen, forcing the Ming General, the greatest martial artist under heaven, to intervene and slay four supreme assassins in a single stroke. This battle not only shakes the court and the common people but also lifts the curtain on the covert power struggle among the Crown Prince, Prince Tai, and the Ming General. Meanwhile, outside the capital, the Hidden Weapon King Lin Qing, carrying his young child Xiaoxian, sets out on a journey to fight the Ming General to the death; little do they know that they are being drawn step by step into the tangled web of conspiracies woven by the capital's various factions. Titled "The Summit," the novel explores a double pinnacle—in martial arts and in life: the higher one climbs, the colder it becomes, and behind the title of "greatest under heaven" lies a loneliness and price that no one can share. Across twenty chapters the book builds layer by layer, from assassination and pursuit to probing and the final showdown; the fight choreography is extraordinary and grounded in the principles of real combat, the characters are sharply drawn, and the plot twists and turns. Beyond the flash of blades, it also portrays the loyalty, obsession, and fate of the jianghu, and is regarded as one of the representative works of mainland new wuxia.
