Ultimate Nightmare Vol. 2

Summary
This volume is issue #2 of Ultimate Nightmare, a five-issue limited series in the Ultimate Marvel universe, written by Warren Ellis and drawn by Trevor Hairsine, published by Marvel Comics in September 2004. The story begins when a mysterious broadcast invades global communications systems. Images of death and destruction keep appearing on television and computer screens, driving countless people to take their own lives. The intense psychic disturbance alerts both S.H.I.E.L.D. and Professor Charles Xavier, and the two trails ultimately lead to Tunguska in Siberia, Russia—a wasteland struck by a comet more than a century earlier. In issue #2, two teams arrive in the Tunguska region in succession: the S.H.I.E.L.D. squad led by Nick Fury (Captain America, Black Widow, Falcon) and the X-Men team sent by Charles Xavier (Jean Grey, Wolverine, Colossus). The wasteland is covered with mutated creatures and bizarre signs. Neither team knows of the other's existence, and stranger things are about to happen. This is the pivotal, bridge-building volume in Ultimate Nightmare, an important chapter laying groundwork for the Ultimate Galactus Trilogy.
Editor's review
