Ultimate Team-Up Vol. 3

This volume is issue #3 of the Ultimate Team-Up series, following directly from the "Spider-Man and the Hulk" storyline in issue #2 and forming the second half of that two-part arc. Peter Parker, caught in midair by the green giant, barely escapes, dodging blow after blow by swinging from streetlamps, flagpoles, and city buildings while trying to lure the destruction toward an empty waterfront warehouse. The hungry giant is drawn to fish and gradually calms, shrinking back into a frail, frightened man—Bruce Banner. Banner babbles about nightmares and some conspiracy in which "everything is connected," but before he can finish, Thaddeus Ross and his men surround the two. Tension and gunfire drive Banner back into his giant form; helicopters fire on the warehouse, but the giant leaps clear of the encirclement. Ross leads the pursuit, while Peter clings to a floating plank and survives the river. Back home, the TV news is still replaying his battle with the giant. Written by Brian Michael Bendis, penciled by Phil Hester, and inked by Ande Parks, this is one of the Hulk's earliest appearances in the Ultimate Universe and plants the seeds of the long entanglement between Ross and Banner.
