The Profligate Evil God

The Profligate Evil God is a fantasy novel by the web author Ri Shang San Gan, first serialized on platforms such as Sina Reading and later collected by various web-novel sites and proofreading resource sites; a version marked "proofread complete edition" circulates on Zhixuan Cangshu. The protagonist, Ye Han, is a special forces soldier from the elite reconnaissance company Steel Seventh Company; for certain reasons he is stripped of his military status by the Extraordinary Ability Research Command Headquarters and then sent to Huaxia University on a top-secret S-rank mission, drawing him into a world where the urban and the otherworldly intertwine and where strength and faction determine rank. The work follows the main line of "a reckless youth growing into a supreme being" and sets out cultivation tiers from Yellow, Mystic, Earth, and Heaven ranks up to Supreme, Sage, Creator, Void God, True God, Emperor, and Emperor Sage, along with multiple systems of pills, artifacts, strange flames, bloodlines, and laws; in repeated confrontations the protagonist gathers power and establishes the Imperial Banner Sect, layered into eight parts—Hell, Hungry Ghosts, Demons, Asura, Human, Heaven, Supreme, and God—and gradually battles his way from the city up through the human realm, the Earth-Soul Realm, the Lingmi Realm, and ever higher planes. The book is very long and briskly paced, a typical long-form power-fantasy web novel; the protagonist's flamboyant personality and his style of "daring to commit the greatest taboos under heaven" constitute its most recognizable appeal.
