Summary

The First Beauty is an ancient romance novel by the author Sang Tian, published by Modern Press in December 2008. Her prophecy of ruin, her stunning beauty, and her emotional choices entangle with one another, intertwined with the survival of the nation and the shadow of a curse coming true. The work portrays the choice between war and tenderness in a mournful, ornate style, exploring the complex questions of love, loyalty, and trust, and threads the image of "well water red as blood" through the whole book, pointing to a tragic, fatalistic tone. "A smile that topples a city can only gaze from a high tower; a thousand favors are doomed to a lonely life" is the core image shaping the heroine's fate.
