Volume 43

This volume is Volume 43 of the "05" series collection. Judging from the series catalog clues, the series collects serialized content from Western superhero comics and is closely related to comics set in the world of a TV series, such as Smallville Season 11. After the ten-season TV series Smallville concluded, DC Comics continued the story in comic form, following Clark Kent's experiences after becoming Superman as he juggles city life, concealing his identity, and the responsibilities of a superhero, while also extending storylines for other heroes and villains. This volume is the 43rd in that long-running series, picking up plot threads left by previous volumes and advancing the main characters' development in secret identities, romantic relationships, and battle crises. Because volumes in the same series are arranged by number, this volume is not self-contained; readers are best served by reading in order, or at least reading the immediately preceding volumes, to make sense of the character relationships and event threads. As one volume in the collection, it suits readers already following the series who want to fill in a missing volume; for newcomers, it is more like a piece of the puzzle than an entry point to the series.
