Summary
This is the 34th volume in the series, corresponding to Chapter 34 of the digital edition of the Smallville Season 11 comic, the eighth part of the "Haunted" storyline. The story continues along the "speedster" subplot: in the Utah desert, the retired elder Flash Jay Garrick explains to Superman and Impulse (Bart Allen) that the Speed Force keeps trying to create new speedsters, and those who cannot withstand it perish in the speed storm. Faced with rising casualties in Las Vegas, Superman, with the help of Emil Hamilton at S.T.A.R. Labs, dons a special blue suit and tries to catch up with and confront the "Black Flash" head-on. Meanwhile, the Metropolis thread continues the Lex Luthor investigation: the theft of a mind-probe device and surveillance records from LexCorp leads him to suspect Oliver Queen, while Chloe's memories interweave with flashes of her parallel-world (Earth-2) self. Both threads ultimately point to the same question—when power is both a curse and a possible blessing, how should a hero conduct himself?
