Talisman Treasure

Talisman Treasure is an urban supernatural novel by the web author "Cengjing Yongyou de Fangxiangguan" ("A Sense of Direction I Once Had"), serialized on Qidian.com from October 17, 2011, and now complete at roughly 2.5 million Chinese characters. The author is a signed Qidian writer who also wrote Super Absorption and Super Fusion; this book is one of his representative works. The story opens with a prison visit: the young Zhou Mingluo was raised by Uncle Fang, who was framed and imprisoned and has fallen into poverty. An ordinary yellow paper Zhou Mingluo has carried for over a decade suddenly reveals its power: it can absorb the "literary qi" contained in antiques and cultural relics, spontaneously generating talismans with different functions. The first, the Text-Seeking Talisman, gives him the ability to see through antiquities and distinguish genuine from fake, and he enters the antiques market, starting with a porcelain plate, an old bed, and a chair, gaining fame amid the real and fake of bargain-hunting and misjudgment while steadily building his fortune and confidence. The talismans form a system of their own: at the lowest level are the four-rank Eight Trigrams Talismans—the Text-Seeking, Diamond, Flowing Water, Thunder, Fire, and Sky Talismans—each with its own strength, allowing sight, bodily strengthening, healing, and the summoning of lightning; above them are the three-rank Four Symbols Talismans, which can nurture spirit creatures such as the Azure Dragon, Vermilion Bird, White Tiger, and Black Tortoise; and above those, the two-rank Yin-Yang Talismans and the one-rank Taiji Talisman. With these, Zhou Mingluo appraises treasures, gambles on jade, heals the sick, and restores artifacts, moving from the urban antiques circle to international treasure hunting and the unraveling of historical mysteries, with traditional cultural motifs such as the legend of the Nine Cauldrons and the Zhanlu Sword woven throughout. The main line is "talisman path + treasure appraisal + business warfare," typical of early urban cultivation power-fantasy fiction.
