Summary
Divine Favor is a long urban fantasy novel by the web author Lazy Lion, serialized on Qidian Chinese Network from 2014 and now complete. The protagonist is an ordinary university student with somewhat macho tendencies, indulged by his parents and living a carefree life. One casual act of kindness earns him the gospel of an angel, and from then on he is drawn into a world where gods coexist and can never return to ordinary campus life. In this world, Eastern and Western mythologies are spliced together anew: a captivating nine-tailed fox, a majestic Valkyrie, the Xuanyuan Dragon God who rules the divine realm, and the archangel Michael appear one after another, each god with its own position and schemes, and the protagonist must maneuver to survive among contending factions. The narrative alternates between urban daily life and mythological adventure, with relaxed campus life and character interaction alongside supernatural battles and disputes in the divine realm. The author reconstructs the mythological genealogy in a style close to Japanese light novels, with a heavy emphasis on romance and many female characters around the protagonist; the overall tone is hot-blooded with a strong anime flavor, and its click and recommendation figures have long performed well among web novel readers.
Editor's review
