Divine Desire

Divine Desire is an Eastern fantasy web novel by Xuandifeng, an author on Qidian Chinese Network. Along with A Tiny World (renamed Slay the Gods in the mainland simplified edition), Devourer of the Six Realms, and Superbrain Demon Card Envoy, it is one of the author's representative works, and it was also published in traditional Chinese in Taiwan. The story is set in a strange world where gods truly exist: gods are not merely legend and faith, but real beings who bestow various formidable "superpowers" upon mortals. Only a very few lucky ones in the world receive divine favor, each with one or more innate abilities whose direction and strength vary, so those chosen often rise at once to become key figures who shape the course of their era. The protagonist, Fan Dong, is one of these "lucky ones." Suddenly gaining divinely granted power from an ordinary person, he must explore the boundaries of his abilities in a strange and dangerous world, deal with covetousness and hostility, and face the larger, hidden power structure behind the superpowers. With "human desire and choice in a world with gods" as its core, the work unfolds adventure around the growth of superpowered individuals, struggles among factions, and unknown powerful enemies. It was completed on an online serialization platform at a scale of about two hundred-plus chapters, roughly 840,000 characters in total, making it one of the author's more representative early fantasy novels.
