Wonder Woman #44

This is issue #44 of Wonder Woman Vol. 4 (the DC New 52 run), titled "Path to Destiny," written by Meredith Finch and drawn by David Finch, published by DC Comics on September 16, 2015, with a 22-page main story. The story picks up from issue #43: Diana wakes in a London alley after being attacked, the arrow still lodged in her chest. Enduring the pain, she pulls it out and hurls it into the sea, where it vanishes into thin air through an eerie "door." Back at her apartment, she communicates through a mirror with Hera, queen of the gods, and Hephaestus, god of the forge, learning that the arrow could only have come from Hephaestus's own workshop—pointing to intrigue within Olympus. Meanwhile, Donna Troy, an abandoned Amazon cast adrift in London, hides in the streets, fleeing both Diana's search and her own past. She saves Violet, the thief who robbed Diana, from a street thug named Link, only to be blamed for bringing trouble; yet Violet later saves Donna's life from a double-decker bus and takes her to a hideout in the subway, giving her new clothes and shelter—whether this "new friend" is help or burden becomes another thread in this issue. On Mount Olympus, Diana and Eris, goddess of discord, argue over whether Eris conspired with Nikos Aegeus; before the words fade, Aegeus descends from the sky and draws up for battle. The issue closes on the confrontation between old gods and new, setting the stage for the next issue's great battle.
