Biohazard Dynasty 2

Biohazard Dynasty 2 is an apocalyptic science-fiction novel by the web author Dream Catcher, a sequel to Biohazard Dynasty. Running about 1.13 million Chinese characters across 434 chapters, it was serialized on Zongheng Chinese Network from December 26, 2011, through to its completion, and is the second installment in the Biohazard Dynasty series. The plot is only loosely connected to the first book and can essentially be read as an entirely new story. It is set in the wasteland of a post-outbreak world: human civilization has collapsed, the undead roam, insect swarms and all manner of mutated creatures run rampant, and survivors can only struggle for existence among ruins and strongholds. The protagonist, Li Feng, senses the approaching crisis during a doze in class, after which the biohazard disaster erupts in full; with the aid of gene breakthroughs and implant technology he steadily strengthens himself, builds a survivor faction called the Dawn Party, and leads the remnants of humanity against unending legions of mutated creatures. The novel drives its plot with catastrophic events such as a nuclear-blast crisis, a siege by an insect tide, and a battle at a crater, intersperses science-fictional devices like interstellar war and black-hole energy fields, and unfolds a narrative about species survival and civilizational reconstruction within a logic of "iron and blood," repeatedly asking, "Between humans with hearts and the heartless undead, who has truly betrayed the name of humanity?" Coarse, violent, and tightly paced, it is one of the representative works of the bio-apocalypse genre in 2010s Chinese web literature.
