Ace Magus

Ace Magus is a Western fantasy novel by web author Ji Fengbing, serialized on Qidian Chinese Network from April 28, 2009, and completed on December 14 of the same year. It comprises 181 chapters and roughly 1.16 million Chinese characters and is categorized as "Fantasy—Otherworld Magic Farming." The story begins with Ryan, a boy on the verge of freezing to death. Rescued at death's door and taken as an apprentice by a Holy Archmage, he unexpectedly gains a special power left by the ancient divine race—a near-cheat shortcut to cultivation. With this stroke of luck, Ryan starts from the most basic study of magic and gradually moves on to taming underworld creatures and capturing and raising battle pets, developing his own fighting style within the pet evolution system. He then enters Leo Academy for combat training and becomes embroiled in rivalries and conflicts both inside and outside the academy. As the plot advances, the stage expands from human city-states to a broader multiracial world, spanning arcs such as Maple Blue War Clouds, Leo Academy, and The Arrival of the Powerful. It features settings including necromancers, elves, orcs, and dragon warriors, and involves cross-racial campaigns such as dungeon exploration, wars in the demon realm, and even clashes of creator-god bloodlines. Framed by multi-faction power struggles, the book balances cultivation and leveling with a light, humorous narrative rhythm, making it one of the representative early works of the otherworld magic farming genre on Qidian.
