Summary

Hunting the Three Kingdoms is a time-travel novel set in the Qin-Han and Three Kingdoms era by the web author Kou Shiwulang. It was completed on Qidian Chinese Network on October 20, 2015, as a signed VIP work, totaling about 1.4939 million characters and more than 450 chapters in seven volumes. The protagonist, Ma Han, is a modern man carrying a thousand-pace strongbow and a mechanical iron arm; caught in a temporal anomaly, he falls onto the Jieqiao battlefield at the end of the Han. He makes his name by killing at long range and is hailed by his followers as the "Liaodong Heavenly Colt" and feared by others as "the wolf from the north." He does not boast of divine archery but calls himself "the Three Kingdoms' number one sniper." The main thread of the book runs through the sniper tactic of "one general killed a day": Ma Han first rises in Hebei, gaining a foothold under Gongsun Zan's forces in Youzhou; then moves to Liaodong, integrating the Wuhuan, Xianbei, and other tribes, building cities and opening farmland, and marching north to destroy Goguryeo and expand into the eastern seas; then goes south to Xuzhou, maneuvering among Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Lü Bu, and other forces; then west into the Henan-Luoyang region, protecting Emperor Xian of Han and pacifying Liangzhou, restoring the authority of the court; and finally contends for the Central Plains, deciding the war with Yuan Shao and other powerful lords, sweeping north and south by land and water. The ending does not follow the old path of declaring himself emperor but proposes the "Ma Han" arrangement: the Han ancestral temple is not abolished, and "one state, two sacrifices" reconciles the clan law, allowing the new regime outside the Liu family to continue the name "Han." The work is a typical "golden finger" historical time-travel power fantasy, with dense battle scenes and fast pacing. Historical figures such as Zhao Yun, Lü Bu, Cao Cao, Yuan Shao, Xiahou Dun, Li Dian, and Taishi Ci all appear, and modern sniper tactics are grafted onto cold-weapon warfare, forming the book's core appeal.

Editor's review

Reading tips
