The Frenzied Host

The Frenzied Host is a long web novel serialized on Qidian Chinese Network by Huanmie zhi Feng (also credited as "Babylon's Sky Garden"), about 2.9 million characters in total and now completed. The story opens with the prologue "The Road of the Age": a youth called "the Madman" walks the world with an arrogance and strength that almost ignores the laws of the world, answerable only to his own faith. Because of his "madness" and his "strength," powerful figures scattered everywhere with kindred spirits are drawn to him one after another and gather at his side—the mysterious figure codenamed "Crow," White Crow, Fange, Yeying, Xiaoyao, and others appear in succession, and from mutual probing and bloodshed to alliance, they gradually coalesce into a band that calls itself the "Frenzied Host." The novel begins on campus and in the city, and the plot escalates layer by layer through intelligence contests, assassination attacks, clashes of extraordinary powers, border infiltration, military tournaments, and large-scale chaotic warfare; amid constant conflict and betrayal, the protagonist and his companions challenge the existing order and attempt to shake the deeply rooted darkness of the world. The work has a distinct hot-blooded ensemble flavor: the protagonist is no lone hero, and his power comes from the companions drawn by his personality; "madness" is both a way of fighting and a posture of resistance. The book closes with "Final Chapter: The Age of the Frenzied Host," telling how a youth and his subordinates made that name resound through heaven and earth.
