Crazy Immortal is a long classical xianxia novel by web author Chen Fengxiao, serialized on Qidian around 2014 and completed in April 2016, totaling roughly 3.87 million characters across 1,261 chapters. The story follows Chen Taizhong, a rogue cultivator from a post-catastrophe Earth plane who, after more than two centuries of arduous cultivation, finally transcends tribulation and ascends—only to land in the reception pool of Qingshi City in the Fenghuang Immortal Realm and run straight into the nakedly snobbish rules of the place: registering one's identity requires spirit stones, and he does not have a single one to his name. Fresh off the boat, he is rated a first-grade wandering immortal with stagnant spiritual energy, and is treated dismissively by the reception clerk, the gatekeepers, and other new arrivals. The immortal realm is no different from the mundane workplace or marketplace: spirit stones are currency, powerful clans monopolize resources, and tuition fees are demanded at every turn. Chen Taizhong is blunt, hot-tempered, and sharp-tongued, yet he refuses to bow his head and accept his fate. Starting from the bottom—taking odd jobs at the mission hall, slaying demon beasts, and scraping together spirit stones—he relies on his qi-path cultivation and unyielding stubbornness to navigate a strange cultivation society and claw his way upward step by step. The novel is known for its satirical tone—the immortal realm as society—and readers jokingly call it a workplace, motivational, or e-commerce version of a cultivation story: how a newcomer survives under the suppression of his elders, and how an outsider uses his own two hands to integrate into the city. It is also a xianxia continuation in the vein of the author's Official Immortal.
