It was first released on Zongheng Chinese Network on August 1, 2014, runs to about 5.597 million characters, and was completed in 2023. The protagonist, Du Zhong, is the heir of the Du family, a lineage of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, and the sole inheritor of a lost ancient medical art. At sixteen, against his family's objections, he joined the army; six years later he was discharged and returned to the city. In accordance with an agreement with his grandfather, he sets out to practice medicine and pay respects to his ancestors, but for various reasons ends up working as an inconspicuous security guard at a hospital. The story begins with his return home to honor his ancestors, where he steps in to save an unconscious elderly man in an ambulance and rescues his sister Du Yuhe from trouble. He treats difficult and complicated diseases with his medical skills while fending off provocations with the combat prowess of a soldier king, gradually becoming entangled in medical disputes, conspiracies, and martial-arts conflicts. The work blends medical competitions, martial-arts breakthroughs, and international plague relief, and builds core settings such as the merit eye supernatural ability and the hidden-force martial-arts system. Through arcs like the Young Martial Artists Ranking and the medical dao examination, the protagonist rises step by step to fame, ultimately uncovering the mystery of his origins and founding the Ancient Martial Hall. The book unfolds across multiple volumes, including "Return of the Soldier King," "TCM Genius," and "Rising Fame."
