Kick-Ass 2, Issue 3

Dave Lizewski, the Kick-Ass hero, has tried on a mail-order wetsuit and has taken beatings in the street; later, he became a "real-life superhero" known to the whole world. By issue 3 of Kick-Ass 2, he is finally no longer a lone eccentric but acts together with his self-proclaimed superhero team, Justice Forever: raiding a pimp's den, handing the money to the victims, then patrolling at night, using a crowd of costumed people to scare off thugs on several blocks. They even begin doing charity, their reputation grows, and more "kindred spirits" want to join. But the path is not easy: Dave wants to recruit an old friend, who responds by rattling off a pile of lousy codenames copied from Dave himself; he wants the Hit-Girl to come out of retirement, but she refuses on the grounds that she "promised Dad." Meanwhile, his father, while searching for "drugs," finds the green costume in his son's room. Worse, on the other side, Red Mist is unwilling to remain merely a laughed-at loser. At the end of this issue, he leads his men into Justice Forever's base and declares war on all "heroes" in an extremely brutal way. This is issue 3 of the series and the key issue in which the whole series turns from light comedy to dark brutality.
