Summary

Seeking the Demon is a long xianxia novel by web author Er Gen. It began serialization on Qidian on February 17, 2012, and concluded on December 23, 2013, running about 4.59 million characters. The story begins in the Wushan tribe on a savage continent: the orphan Su Ming is adopted by the tribe elder Mosang. Long regarded as a mortal without a savage body, he awakens one on the day of the Savage Awakening thanks to a mysterious black stone shard and receives the legacy left by a powerful fire savage, setting out on the path of savage cultivation. He moves through the West Alliance, South Dawn, and East Wilderness, cultivating from the Blood Condensation realm all the way to Savage Soul and Fate Cultivation, pursuing the truth of the world amid tribal strife, sect infighting, and interstellar warfare. As his cultivation deepens, he discovers that many of the "realities" in his memory are carefully staged illusions; his origins, his growth, and even his family and friends are caught up in a long scheme designed by the immortal clan powerhouse Di Tian with him at its center. What he must do is not become an immortal but break free of the hand that controls fate—the so-called "demon" is not evil but the one who refuses to close his eyes and insists on seeing the world clearly. Written in a suppressed, desolate key, the book portrays a youth's lifelong confrontation with fate, with family, friendship, and love all depicted. Its ending is tragic yet resonant, and many readers regard it as one of Er Gen's most substantial and most emotionally wrenching works.

Editor's review

Who it's for

A good fit for

Not a good fit for

Reading tips

About the publisher

Hubei Children's Press China · Founded in 1982

Hubei Children's Press mainly publishes children's literature and art, popular science, early-learning and animation books, as well as supplementary learning materials and electronic and audio-visual publications, with children's literature and art forming an important part of its publishing direction. Only a limited number of its books are held in the collection, and publicly available information is also limited; the only title currently listed is the fine novel Floating Continent by Lanse Shi, which suggests the press's orientation toward original children's fiction—full-length works aimed at young readers and notable for their storytelling. Overall, the press's publishing features center on categories such as children's literature and art and popular science, covering both print books and electronic and audio-visual formats, and seeking to offer young readers diverse reading choices that balance literary quality and knowledge.

FAQ

这本书是HE还是BE?
