The Martial Emperor

Wu Huang is an Eastern fantasy novel by the web author Ye Menghan. Its protagonist, Yang Ningfeng, is an overlooked young man from a small town in the southern wilds of the Chongyuan Continent. He is no mere brawler who knows only how to throw a punch; he has learned and mastered swordsmanship, martial arts, medicine compounding, and alchemy alike. An encounter at Black Forest Cliff leads him to rescue a monkey, and through it he comes to know powerful beings such as the Blood Tiger Sword Spirit, the Monkey King, and the Dragon Emperor, setting him on a path from the feuds of a frontier-town family into a far broader world. The story begins with the open and hidden strife between the Yang and Zhao families and within the Yang clan itself, chronicling how a "good-for-nothing" youth who is mocked by others relies on his skills and ruthlessness to sign a life-and-death pledge and survive dangers such as the half-human, half-snake beast, and how he cultivates both alchemy and martial arts, drawing allies and rivals alike into his own game. As his cultivation deepens, his stage expands from a small town in the southern wilds to conflicts among sects, alliances, and dynasties, until he stands beneath the spears of the Eastern Emperor Hall. Running over a thousand chapters and more than three million characters, the book follows the traditional hot-blooded path of constant face-slapping and leveling up, blending elements of alchemy, swordsmanship, and political intrigue, and concludes with the chapter "Shattered," which brings the protagonist's climb to the summit to a close.
