Final Faith

Final Faith is an infinite-flow novel by the web author Hei Ji, regarded as the second book in the author's "Final Trilogy." The protagonist, Li Lin, is a young genius with emotions so thin as to be nearly blank. He and his uncle founded a cult called "Gate of the Holy Prison," which ended in self-immolating sacrifice, yet thanks to the most devout faith of 666 believers he is sent into an infinite space. He wakes in a white, windowless, doorless chamber with no light source yet brightly lit throughout, together with strangers from all over the world, and a cycle begins in which worlds serve as dungeons and tasks are traded for survival. The dungeons Li Lin enters span films, anime, and fantasy classics: from the nightmare world of A Nightmare on Elm Street to a special ward steeped in the morbid and the mad, then Underworld, Hunter × Hunter, Avatar, Transformers, Silent Hill, and finally Tolkien's Middle-earth. He relies neither on brute force nor on hot-blooded passion, but on self-invented skills learned as a doctor—such as "shameless surgery" and "conditioning arts"—plus calculations cold to the point of ruthlessness, to seize resources, expand his power, and spread faith energy step by step in the dungeons; in Middle-earth he even builds his own cult and maneuvers among kingship, the Dark Lord, elves, and Ringwraiths. The work is known for its dark style and data-driven progression, with novel world-building and wild imagination, and the protagonist's logic often defies expectation; its rewriting of dungeon worlds includes both parody of the originals and the author's own extensions. The book runs over 2.8 million characters; the early and middle sections are fairly complete, while the later pace grows somewhat uncontrolled, and it has long remained unfinished—a work that infinite-flow readers call "a pity."
