The Strongest Beggar

The Strongest Beggar is a long alternate-history novel by the web author Naoxin, first released on Xiaoxiang Academy on July 29, 2014, and also posted on platforms including QQ Reading Women's Site and Chuangshi Chinese. It runs about 790,000 characters in 370 chapters including a completion note, and was finished on June 17, 2015. Set in an alternate Three Kingdoms era, the story follows Teng Luo, a beggar of low status. Starting from nothing, he makes friends and fights for the wronged between the streets and the jianghu, gradually becoming involved in the power struggles of beggar factions and passing through side plots such as the contest over a tridacna treasure, running a clinic, and the military operations of the East Sea Guard; the work also weaves in a martial-arts cultivation system, night interrogations at the Nether Snake House, and fantasy elements involving the intervention of Heavenly Court forces. Through gang rules such as the Eight Requirements, Ten Poverties, and Ten Precepts, the author depicts the survival code of the lower jianghu and tries to capture the spirit that beggars are not lowly but free and bold, letting a street-level nobody grow step by step into a great hero who can save heaven and earth in a time of chaos. The book closes with the protagonist's marriage. The author Naoxin, who later changed his pen name to Teng Luo on Qidian after the protagonist of this book, has also written Group Tour of the Three Kingdoms and Infinite Summoning of the Three Kingdoms.
