The First Vampire

The First Vampire is a long fantasy novel by Luo Bu Shang Cheng, serialized on Qidian from March 31, 2021 to its completion on May 10, 2024. Running about 1.67 million Chinese characters across 751 chapters (including the new-book announcement), it belongs to the epic fantasy and lord-conquest genres. The story opens with the transmigrator Colin waking to find himself a knight in the North about to inherit a barony—and that his original body was killed in an assassination. He soon notices strange changes: sunlight frightens him, wounds to the heart and throat no longer kill him, ordinary food cannot sate him, and he craves blood. Testing confirms he carries vampiric traits, yet strangely, in a world full of mages, knights, elves, trolls, and naga, there is no record of any vampire. He may be the first vampire in this world. With no predecessor to guide him and no system to help, Colin can only treat himself as a test subject, recording the rules one by one on parchment: direct sunlight cuts his strength by roughly thirty percent, his vital points have shifted, and only blood restores his stamina. Colin goes to the front intending to take over the remnants of his father's forces, but befriends a noble lady and is drawn into the kingdom's power games. He gradually learns to turn others into blood kin, manage a domain, and build an army, growing from a fugitive in Ice Rock City into Lord of the North, and finally writes his own legend amid the contest between faith and crown. The book is divided into six volumes—Turmoil in the North, The Silvermoon Coup, The Eye of Judgment, Lord of the North, Roaring Battle Hymn, and The Mists of History—with intrigue and war as its main threads; the vampire identity is closer to a power system that can be continually developed.
