Dark Invincible

Dark Immortal is a long-running game-world fantasy novel by the web author Ultimate Boss Fei, approximately 2.52 million Chinese characters in length. It was serialized on Qidian and is now complete. The protagonist, Jiang Yang, is a 24-year-old homebody and web novelist who makes a living writing online fiction and spends his free time playing single-player games, most notably Diablo II and Heroes of Might and Magic III. One day, while waiting at his computer to log into the Diablo Battle.net, he casually starts a game of Heroes of Might and Magic III and randomly rolls the Necropolis faction. A household electrical accident knocks him unconscious, and he wakes in a desolate otherworld strewn with dry bones—the world of Diablo. He soon discovers he cannot class-change or learn skills the way local professionals do, leaving him in an awkward position. Then it occurs to him that he carries with him the recruitment system of the Necropolis (undead) faction from Heroes of Might and Magic III. Taking the Necropolis as his foundation, he kills monsters to gain experience and equipment while accumulating resources to recruit skeletons, zombies, and even bone dragons, ghost dragons, and sacred dragons—building an undead army of his own. He adventures across the Rogue Encampment, Cold Plains waypoint, Hunter's Camp, Lut Gholein, and other regions of the Diablo world, maneuvering among professional families, noble factions, and even demons and angels as his power rises tier by tier. Built on the dual premise of Diablo plus Heroes of Might and Magic, the book follows the power-fantasy formula of grinding monsters, leveling up, farming loot, expanding armies, and rolling over everything in its path. Fast-paced and brisk, it is one of the more representative early works in the game-world genre.
