Starfire No. 6

Summary
This is issue No. 6 of the Starfire series (2015–2016), written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, drawn by Emanuela Lupacchino and Ray McCarthy, published by DC Comics on November 11, 2015, 32 pages. The story picks up from what came before: Tamaranean princess Koriand'r (Starfire) has settled in Key West and is trying to live an "ordinary" life on Earth—working at the aquarium, making friends, coping with rent. At the end of the previous issue, her friend Sol Gomez fell before the mysterious figure Soran Hook; this issue opens at that cliffhanger: the conflict between Starfire and Hook escalates sharply, Koriand'r in her rage nearly crosses the line she set for herself, and Sol's past with a woman named Maria also surfaces through flashbacks. Before the storm subsides, a bounty hunter from space, Krag, is hired to hunt her down, turning what was supposed to be an ordinary date into an interstellar battle. Amid its light, humorous everyday tone, this issue inserts a rather somber note: on one hand it shows Starfire's fierce, even violent side; on the other it explains her conscious choice to restrain herself and fit in on Earth. At the end, the appearance of Dick Grayson sets up later chapters.
Editor's review
