Boundless

*Boundless* is an Eastern fantasy work by the web novelist Gu Xi, serialized and completed on Qidian from 2012 to 2013, about 1.18 million Chinese characters and 415 chapters, with the final chapter titled "Flowers Bloom on the Other Shore." The story begins in Dragon Elephant City in the Cangxue Dynasty: Tang Lin comes from the long-declined Pure Yang Martial Hall family, is born with weak blood and qi and cannot practice martial arts, yet is determined to become the strongest. With the martial hall facing disputes over rented land, the theft of its signature martial manual, and the abandonment of the Crouching Dragon Pool, Tang Lin secretly trains by moonlight and, by chance, meets the sealed demon-quelling master Xiao Hui, learns the way of talismans, and uses the family technique *Dragon Blood Code* to refine his body into dragon patterns, formally entering the martial path. He then travels from Dragon Elephant City to the capital to join the Seven Stars Martial Hall, honing himself where geniuses gather, passing through perilous places such as the Misty Swamp, the monsters of Crouching Dragon Pool, and the Forbidden Land, advancing from the eight martial realms to the six sage realms and then the three immortal realms, and gradually becoming entangled in the old grudges of the Lesser Immortal World, the Immortal Domain, and even the ancient Immortal Emperor and the Lord of Darkness. The work sets up a four-tier ladder of martial body refinement, sage soul cultivation, immortal world creation, and heavenly law mastery, and builds its system around twelve heavenly laws including the supreme sword path and the law of time; in the finale, Tang Lin gathers the way of all beings, transforms his body into a dragon, and transcends the shackles of heaven and earth. Overall it is a traditional leveling-up fantasy epic about defying fate and protecting one's family, with brisk pacing and layered settings.
