Invincible Woodcutter's Blade is the first full-length work by web novelist Meng Biexu. There he unexpectedly tests as a shocking heavenly spiritual root, drawing immortal sects to compete for him. The woodcutter's blade in the title is in fact a sealed supreme artifact of the Nine Heavens, the Flying Pliers. The artifact originally possessed sentience but, because of the seal, was reduced to a boy's wood-chopping tool; it follows Meng Yang through chopping wood and fighting, along the way producing all kinds of obsessions and comic mishaps. The work explicitly depicts the youth's cultivation path of defying fate, while implicitly tracing the artifact's recovery of its own power and integrity, the two threads intertwining. The book builds an immense system of seven cultivation realms (Foundation Building, Spirit Division, Integration, Golden Core, Nascent Soul, Nine Tribulations, and Spirit Transformation) and thirty-six world planes. Its plot covers sect conflicts, secret-realm treasure hunting, pill refining and talisman making, and factional confrontations, and it plants numerous foreshadowings, making it a typical long-form power-fantasy cultivation narrative.
