New Avengers Vol. 2

This volume is the second in the New Avengers series published by World Publishing, subtitled "Sentry" and corresponding to the original New Avengers Vol. 2: Sentry. It collects The New Avengers #7–10 and includes a "Most Wanted Files" feature. The story picks up right after the previous volume, Breakout: amid the chaos of the mass escape from the Raft prison, a powerful hero almost everyone has forgotten—the Sentry—becomes the center of attention. The New Avengers immediately consider recruiting him, only to gradually discover that the two sides may have a history together. Meanwhile, the Sentry himself is trapped in an identity crisis: no one remembers who he really is, and even he cannot be sure. The Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men all step in, trying to help him recover his erased memories and to figure out what the "Void" is that surfaces whenever he uses his powers. The deeper the investigation goes, the heavier the truth becomes—an answer that may be enough to destroy the man regarded as the world's most powerful hero. The book continues Bendis's signature ensemble dialogue and psychological portraiture; beyond the large-scale team action, much of its length is devoted to one hero's questioning of his own existence, giving this volume a suspenseful, oppressive atmosphere beneath its explosive visuals.
