Recon Soldier

Recon Soldier is a time-travel novel about the War of Resistance Against Japan by web novelist Qianzhongcao. Serialized on 17K.com from April 2014, it comprises 1,542 chapters and roughly 3.348 million Chinese characters, falls under the "War History" category, and is now complete. The story opens as Gao Quan, a scout from a modern army, is transported to Luowenyu on the Great Wall in 1933, right into the bloody battle between the 29th Army and Japanese forces, and he joins the fight with the skills and tactical training of a modern soldier. From there he rises step by step from the ranks, passing through more than ten major campaigns including the Luowenyu blocking action, the Taierzhuang victory, the Taiyuan campaign, the Xuzhou campaign, the Wuhan campaign and the Changsha battles, bringing modern methods such as night raids on strongpoints, tactical sniping and reconnaissance infiltration onto the battlefield, while historical scenes such as hand-to-hand combat with the 29th Army's broadsword units present a three-dimensional picture of the war in which the regular front and guerrilla operations behind enemy lines intertwine. Beyond the main combat thread, the novel also follows unit reorganization and strategic maneuvering, and sketches the cooperation between soldiers and civilians. The work uses real campaigns as its framework; its main line is the growth and fighting of a military wish-fulfillment novel, running from 1933 to 1945 and closing with the hero bringing honor to his country.
