War Against Heaven

War Against Heaven is an Eastern fantasy web novel by Zui Yipin, first serialized on Qidian and now completed at roughly 3.5 million characters and 991 chapters. The protagonist, Ye Fan, transmigrates into the otherworldly Continent of Destiny and opens his eyes as a down-and-out lord of a small domain: the original owner squandered everything and fell behind on taxes, so the family's disciplinary hall comes to hold him accountable, and Ye Fan has no choice but to flee in haste with his old steward. On the Continent of Destiny, the core of power is the "fate core." Those who possess one, the Fate-Bearers, hold high status; heavenly beasts and the ten thousand races coexist, and the law of the jungle is the continent's most basic rule. Ye Fan, however, is a transmigrator with no fate core, and must endure the body-tempering hardships of the lowest slave city, building his strength step by step through compounding medicine, forging his body, and living in symbiosis with heavenly beasts—rising from apprentice alchemist to heavenly master to heavenly emperor, and finally touching the realm of true god. Along the way he faces frame-ups by the martial bureaus, crushing by the Mo clan caravan, a duel with a demon lord, and accidental entry into perilous places such as the chaotic plane. The work follows the "underdog counterattack plus hiding one's strength" power-fantasy formula, while laying out a threefold progression of body-forging, beast-taming, and plane-breaking, along with side narratives of planar slices beyond the main plot. The book closes with Ye Fan's reunion with Xiahou Youxin, telling the story of how a man judged "useless" by the rules turns around and pierces through the entire hierarchy.
