War Against Heaven

War Against Heaven is an Eastern fantasy novel by Cangtian Baihe, a platinum author on Qidian, serialized on Qidian from January 13, 2011 to March 21, 2012. The novel runs about 3.0952 million Chinese characters across 630 chapters, with no known print edition. The story is set in motion by a "Heaven-and-Earth Sacred Fruit" that crosses over from beyond the sky; where it falls, an ordinary fate is changed. The protagonist, Zheng Haotian, is a youth from a village at the foot of Bear-Wolf Mountain who trains in martial arts to survive in harsh conditions. Starting with fighting wild beasts and toughening his body, he steps out of the mountain village into a vast world of rival sects and rampant demon beasts. The work builds a dual power system of "demon-refining martial artists" and "spiritual-energy masters": martial artists are ranked by stage and grade, while spiritual-energy masters are graded from one to nine stars, and the path of cultivation involves strict realm ladders and competition for resources. As Zheng Haotian's cultivation rises, sect rivalries, demon-beast riots, and struggles over resources and legacies unfold one after another, interwoven with friendship, betrayal, and the good and evil of human nature. With the throughline of "an ordinary person climbing step by step through perseverance and opportunity," the novel blends fantasy martial arts with cultivation elements. It is one of Cangtian Baihe's early works with a distinct style, suited to readers who enjoy traditional progression-style Eastern fantasy.
