Fierce Man

Fierce Man is an urban supernatural-ability novel by Pingfan Xin, serialized on Qidian Chinese, totaling about 1.3 million characters. It is divided into five volumes—"I'm a Damn Good Guy," "Fight," "Power," "The Strong," and "Transcendence"—and concludes with Chapter 333, "The Truth." The protagonist, Hao Ren, whose name sounds like "good person," claims to follow the principle of "strike first, talk later": he habitually lets his fists lead, yet considers himself somewhat intelligent and possessed of a bottom line. He will snap a thief's fingers and beat a protection-racket thug into the hospital, and he also runs afoul of the police for not following the rules—his file at the police station is said to be over a meter thick, yet beautiful women keep pursuing him one after another. A conflict with the police and an accidental car crash thrust him into a larger and more dangerous world: special task forces, assassins, prisons, Thai gangs, the Poison Emperor and the Sword Saint, and deals worth hundreds of millions with power struggles appearing one after another. Hao Ren wavers between killing intent and Buddha-mind, charging ahead by his own standard—"can be fierce, can be brutal, but act as you please and with a clear conscience"—carving out his place step by step in a world of the strong, and finally approaching the truth through repeated confrontations. With rough, direct language and dense action and conflict, the book is a typical hard-boiled urban power-fantasy.
