Qiang Qin

Qiang Qin is a historical time-travel novel by the web author Jingjingliang (real name Li Yuan). Serialization began on Qidian in 2013 and concluded on May 26, 2014; the book runs to 522 chapters and about 1.393 million Chinese characters and is an A-level contracted VIP work on the site. The story is set in the second year of Qin Er Shi (208 BCE): the Chen Sheng and Wu Guang uprising has already broken out, the eastern regions are in chaos, and at court Zhao Gao holds power and frames Chancellor Li Si. A modern man is reborn as Li Yuan, Li Si's third son, who at this point is merely a military commander under Li You, governor of Sanchuan Commandery, with only a lone army at his disposal. Facing the collapse of the empire, Li Yuan takes as his rallying cry "Stalwart old Qin, restore our rivers and mountains; our blood shall not run dry, and we shall not cease to fight." Starting from the Battle of Yongqiu, he gradually reorganizes his troops and expands his power, passing through key episodes such as the execution of Zhao Gao, the defeat of Liu Bang, the rout of Xiang Yu, and the Hongmen Banquet; he first secures a foothold in the Guanzhong region, then campaigns outward against the Xiongnu and the Western Regions, until Qin's armies push west toward Rome. The book unfolds in five volumes, from "The Besieged City of Yongqiu" to the final chapter "Qin vs. Rome: Total War." The author reworks and elaborates on historical facts in many places, including the Qin army system, Zhang Han commanding troops in his capacity as Shaofu, and Zhao Gao framing Li Si, making this a typical wish-fulfillment novel of late-Qin historical conquest. The style leans toward hot-blooded tragedy, with battle scenes and army organization as its main attractions, and it also bears fairly obvious traces of early web fiction.
