The Strange Doctor of Another World is a long fantasy novel by the web author Ziwei Fengbao, serialized on Zongheng Chinese from January 2013 and completed in May 2022, totaling 181 chapters and about 2.62 million characters (some early sources give over 280,000 characters, a figure from the early serialization period). The story begins with "transmigrating to another world, I become a physician": the protagonist Xiao Han arrives in an unfamiliar world of cultivation with a full command of medicine, using silver needles as his instrument—able both to heal the wounded and dying and to decide others' life and death at critical moments. The novel opens with the appearance of "Master Hand Xiao Han," who befriends a young beggar, Ruoxue, and other companions, gets caught up in trouble through a "double runaway marriage," and by chance obtains the "Needle Spirit" and a fragmented heavenly scroll, setting out on the path of cultivation. Thereafter needle-technique systems such as the "Mystic Gate Needle Hand," the "Green Bamboo Divine Needle," and the "Black Soul First Needle" unfold in succession, physicians are graded by rank, and the protagonist makes his name through needle arts, crossing paths with Nalan Jie, Ran Tianxin, Leng Tiancan, and others while being drawn into the war between the two sects, the Black Armor Army, and the struggles of various factions. The work grafts traditional Chinese acupuncture onto a fantasy framework of cultivation and combat, using the "needle" as the core symbol of power and blending healing, detoxification, mind control, and fighting into one, creating the pleasure of reading where "a healer is also a powerhouse." The plot expands from personal survival and growth to the schemes of families, sects, and a larger stage, making it one of the more representative web novels in the doctor-transmigration genre.
