The Hole Card 2

The Hole Card 2 is a novel by the Hunan-born author A Mei, continuing the story of The Hole Card. It was first serialized on Qidian and published by Lujiang Publishing House in January 2009; it is the second volume of the "Hole Card" series and the final installment. The protagonist A Xin (Deng Kexin) suffers a family upheaval when his uncle goes bankrupt and commits suicide during the financial crisis, and is then unexpectedly drawn into the world of Texas Hold'em, where his exceptional intuition repeatedly saves him at the table. In this volume, the main setting shifts to Las Vegas. At the World Series of Poker, A Xin defeats and eliminates the legendary player Phil Hellmuth, known as the "Great White Shark." Furious, Hellmuth challenges A Xin to a crazy one-on-one match with a stake of up to one hundred million dollars and sets trap after trap. Meanwhile, A Xin's romantic entanglements with A Hu and A Lian grow more complicated, and he somehow becomes the fiancé of Miss Cantillana Bhyu; the mystery behind his uncle's death remains unsolved, and he is determined to investigate it to the end. The book unfolds around the threads of table showdowns, family feuds and emotional choices, moving toward the conclusion of the whole series: the novel blends fictional plot with real-life top players as prototypes, and through the theme that "life is like a card game," explores the temperament and survival philosophy behind competition.
