Summary

Among wuxia novels the word "genius" is the cheapest of labels, bandied about as a once-in-a-century occurrence, yet works that make genius credible and heartbreaking are few. Cunhui Sword is one of the rare ones: Zhao Chenguang does not pile up lucky encounters and secret manuals for his protagonist, but grounds Yin Fubai's "genius" in two concrete abilities—seeing an opponent's flaw at a glance in fierce combat, and reproducing another's sword technique exactly after seeing it only once.
