Drawing on his memories of the previous life, he arranges early for a betrothal between the Princess Changgong's household and Prince Rui's household, playing the lawless little tyrant who clears away anyone threatening A Wan while secretly backing the crown prince and laying plans for the succession struggle, even going to the battlefield in person to reverse the defeat of his previous life. The story weaves two threads: Wei Xuan's calculated power plays and campaigns, and his daily life with A Wan from childhood sweethearts to marriage and companionship. At first A Wan only dotes on him as a younger brother, but she is gradually moved by his love that leaves no way out, and with tenderness slowly straightens his twisted temperament.
