The Primeval God of War

The Primeval God of War is a science fiction web novel by Wenjiu Zhu Huasheng, serialized on Qidian from 2015 and completed in October of the same year. It runs about 459,400 characters in 171 chapters (some sites include up to Chapter 175, "The Man Who Conquered the Starry Sky"). The story is set in the era of techno-martial arts: after a great catastrophe, Earth's environment changed drastically and mutant beasts run rampant, occupying most of humanity's living space; while continuing to develop advanced weapons, humanity rediscovers ancient martial arts cultivation to unlock human potential against powerful enemies. The protagonist, Tang Chu, is a senior in the martial arts class at Tongwu Middle School. Due to innate physical limitations, his cultivation level has long stagnated, and classmates see him as a "small fry." After dying accidentally in a conflict, his consciousness falls into boundless darkness, but he is reborn by devouring a mysterious vortex from another space; his bedrock cells are transformed and his spirit branches awaken, setting him on a path of transformation. When he forges his dantian, the white vortex within causes his dantian sea to collapse and rebuild, giving him the unique advantage of drawing essence into his core through twelve meridians simultaneously and recovering spirit essence rapidly. The book is divided into four volumes—"Genius Awakens," "First Signs of Promise," "Goal: Senior Brother's Reward!" and "Soaring, Starting from a Famous School"—following his experiences from campus trials, gambling duels, and contests among geniuses to leaving the city district, venturing into dangerous lands, and slaying a beast emperor, ultimately pointing toward his dream of "conquering the starry sky." The style is light and brisk, interspersed with plenty of colloquial banter and campus daily life, a typical hot-blooded underdog rising tale.
