Heavenly God Formula is a long-form Eastern fantasy novel by the web author Tai Yi Sheng Shui, following his earlier work The Supreme of All Ages. It was first serialized on Chuangshi Chinese Network in September 2016 and also ran on Qidian, concluding in 2020 with 3,617 chapters and roughly 7.37 million characters. The story opens with Yang Qingxuan, a grandmaster of Chinese martial arts, unraveling the mystery of his origins. In an underground palace beneath the Kunlun Mountains, he triggers a formation, activates the Starry Universe Disk, and crosses the Primordial Cosmos to return to his true body, where his main soul and residual soul merge. From there, starting in the Xuanye Continent of the Cangnan Kingdom, he studies and hones his skills at the Tiancong Academy. With his peerless martial soul “Invincible Under Heaven”—“ten charges, ten victories; a thousand armies scatter”—he breaks through one impasse after another, drawn into escalating conflicts among clans, sects, dynasties, and star domains. Centered on the imagery “a drop of demon blood illuminates ten thousand blossoms across mountains and rivers; a single divine formula buries the supreme ones of the heavens,” the novel follows Yang Qingxuan as he cultivates the Qingyang Martial Classic, the Heavenly God Formula, and other arts, rising from an ordinary martial artist to contend for the title of Supreme of All Ages. The main plot also involves the duties of the Human Emperor and old grudges among the previous incarnation King Yinwu, Tian Wuqing, Gu Yao, and other factions. The book features vivid characters and brisk pacing, blending passionate combat with a light, humorous touch: the protagonist’s line “I have always convinced people through virtue—those who aren’t convinced are dead” is widely known. It was selected as one of the top hundred works in the third Orange Melon Online Literature Awards.
