The Heavenly Bead Transformation is a long fantasy novel by Tang Jia San Shao. It began serialization on Qidian Chinese Network in November 2010, concluded in November 2011, and runs to roughly 2.8 million characters. The print edition is published by Taibai Literature and Art Publishing House. The story is set in the Heavenly Bow Empire. In that world, everyone is born with a Natal Bead; upon awakening it becomes either an Intent Bead or a Body Bead, coiling around the left or right wrist like a bracelet. A Heavenly Bead Master can reach up to twelve paired beads, which is why the path of cultivation is named the "Twelve Transformations of the Heavenly Bead." The protagonist, Zhou Weiqing, is the son of the Heavenly Bow Empire's Grand Marshal, a father whose power dominates the court and whose strength is formidable; yet Zhou was born with blocked meridians, unable to cultivate heavenly power, and has been regarded as worthless since childhood. He also has a princess betrothed to him since youth. After an accident, the Natal Bead of the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger from another world is absorbed into him, and fortune comes out of misfortune: his meridians open, his Natal Bead awakens, and he becomes a rare dual-bead Heavenly Bead Master, taking the bow as his weapon and embarking on a long and perilous road of cultivation. He then leaves home to join the army, rises to prominence as an archer, enters the Feili Royal Military Academy, breaks through again and again in Shaping, Imprinting, and star-rank assessment, makes companions, subdues heavenly beasts, and leads a team in the Heavenly Bead Tournament. The work blends the "Natal Bead—Shaping—Imprinting" cultivation system, imperial warfare and youthful growth, and light, humorous, roguish characterization into one fast-paced, densely rewarding read. It is one of the representative works of Tang Jia San Shao's "loser's counterattack plus hot-blooded conquest" mode, and has a faint connection to Douluo Dalu.
