The Five Books of Tianji

Bringing "Tai Chi" into otherworldly fantasy is the cleverest choice this book makes. The author does not let the protagonist steamroll ahead with a cheat-like system; instead he starts over carrying the boxing principles of his past life: sparring, seeking masters, teaching boxing, going to war—martial advancement is bound to the character's circumstances, giving the reading a certain "blow-by-blow" solidity. In its worldbuilding, the struggle of three kingdoms and the war of humans and demons run in parallel, unfolding layer by layer through academies, the jianghu, perilous abysses, and dynasties, a scope sturdy enough to sustain nearly two million characters. The opening academy arc moves briskly, with dense conflict in the ranking tournament, the prince's clashes, and the flight to Jialing—well suited to readers who like fast-paced power fantasy; the "heavenly mechanism of the Five Books" in the title runs through the main line and leaves hooks for long-term puzzle-solving. The emotional thread's resolution in "watching flowers bloom and fall" likewise leaves a little lingering flavor amid the slaughter. As an A-level contracted work on Zongheng Chinese Network, it is a solid, steadily readable long-form genre novel—suitable as long-term fantasy fare rather than as a work pursuing literary experimentation.
