The Heavenly Pot

The Heavenly Pot is an Eastern fantasy web novel by Hai Feng'er. The title comes from the image of the "pot" that recurs throughout the work: within one pot are flowers in the mirror and the moon in the water; the pot also implies an order of emperors and ministers, generals and soldiers, and a cultivation metaphor of "a bridge of life and death in a single thought, forging true suchness imperishably." The protagonist, Lin Nanfeng, is originally a young man on Earth. By chance he receives a "borrowed-body foundation" from a great power of the Divine Origin Star—an alien powerhouse borrows his body and lays a cultivation foundation for him—and from then on he is forced into a strange otherworld, struggling bitterly to survive, and seeking the peak of his own power amid repeated dangers and opportunities. The work follows the traditional Eastern fantasy cultivation path: the protagonist starts lowly with scarce resources and must carefully accumulate spirit stones, seek pills and talismanic treasures, and search for cultivation methods and legacies. His growth in the otherworld includes both the embarrassment brought by poor aptitude and scarce resources and the unique advantages gained from the alien power. The story also involves supernatural events such as the legacy of an immortal emperor, the awakening of divine fire, a floating mask, and possession by a mountain god. The plot expands from strange encounters in a corner of Earth to a grander starry scale, finally concluding with "The God Returns Home" (the ending). The book has six volumes and 520 chapters, about 1.78 million characters, and is complete.
