Night Feast

Night Feast is a xianxia sweet-romance web novel by Ruoshui Qianliu, serialized to completion on Jinjiang Literature City at roughly 250,000 words and told from the heroine's point of view. The heroine, Tian An'an, is a little white cat demon who patrols the mountains; by chance she is taken home by the high god Feng Xiao, who keeps her as a pet, and the story unfolds from the everyday life of cat demon and high god under one roof. The book avoids heavy drama; its main line is the light interplay of "a high god keeping a cat": Feng Xiao is cold, fastidious, and possessively domineering, while Tian An'an is soft, cute, food-obsessed, and utterly unbothered, and the two soften each other through trivial daily dealings. The original blurb jokes that a cat's heat normally comes only in spring, but ever since the high god carried the little white cat back to his den, her "season" has lasted all 365 days of the year, yielding plenty of sweet and comic scenes. The novel blends supernatural and spirit elements in a xianxia-flavored setting, yet centers on everyday sweetness, with no major angst or tangled power struggles. In her reading notes the author labels it "xianxia pet romance, extra sweet and extra doting," and it can be seen as a xianxia version of her modern novel Addicted to Love; the leads Feng Xiao and Tian An'an recur across this line of works.
