Avengers Vol. 7 #6

This volume is issue #6 of Avengers Vol. 7, Marvel's 2016 relaunch, and the closing chapter of the "Kang War" arc. Previously, the Vision slipped into the timestream and abducted the infant conqueror Kang, setting off a chain of temporal disasters spanning past and present; Kang's many incarnations, the Time Syndicate, and the past and present drawn into the timestream push the handful of remaining Avengers (the Vision, Jane Foster as Thor, Spider-Man, Hercules, Sam Wilson as Captain America, Nadia as the Wasp, and others) to the brink of collapse. In this issue, reality re-forms around the Avengers and the rules of time loosen, and the people and things scattered across time may not return to their original places. A future Vision from "the end of time" appears and confronts the present Vision face to face, posing the thought experiment of the Ship of Theseus: when every component of a synthezoid has been replaced, is it still the same self? This exchange later became the inspiration for the finale of the Marvel television series WandaVision. Meanwhile, the Avengers are called to reassemble before time collapses entirely. This volume is a single comic issue—brief but dense with information, with a large cast and many timelines—suited to readers who have followed the first five issues of this volume.
